Man dies in boating accident – Canaan

At 7:47 a.m. today Lunenburg District RCMP responded to a call reporting a man had succumbed to injuries he sustained following a boating accident in Hoop Pole Lake. The lake is located near David Collicutt Rd. in Canaan.

The two occupants of the boat fell into the water when the boat overturned. A 78-year-old Canaan man became trapped under the boat and his friend was not able to rescue him. Both men were wearing PFDs.

The matter remains under investigation by Lunenburg District RCMP with the assistance of the Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service.
