Man faces charges after dangerous driving incident

A man faces charges after a dangerous driving incident last evening in Halifax.

At 8:18 p.m., officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on Spring Garden Road after a vehicle narrowly missed hitting a pedestrian in a crosswalk. The driver refused to stop and fled the area at a high rate of speed, driving in a dangerous manner. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle on Cornwallis Street in Halifax, and the driver again fled from police at a high rate of speed, driving in a dangerous manner.

The vehicle was observed in Dartmouth by members of the Liquor Enforcement Unit who followed the vehicle at a safe distance to the parking lot of IKEA at 645 Cutler Avenue in Dartmouth. Officers arrested the male driver and female passenger without incident.​ Upon searching the vehicle, officers located a quantity of drugs.

Zachary Karl Juliusson, 22, of Rines Creek, Nova Scotia is scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court today to face one count each of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and flight from police.

The investigation is on-going.
