Man faces child pornography and voyeurism charges

Police have charged a man with child pornography and voyeurism after an incident in Dartmouth on June 11.

At 7:30 p.m., patrol officers responded to the Walmart located at 90 Lamont Terrace to a report that a man placed his cell phone under a young girl’s skirt and possibly took a picture. A description of the man and the vehicle he was driving was provided to police.

At 8:15 p.m., patrol officers arrested a 40-year-old man without incident in his vehicle at the corner of Mount Hope Avenue and Pleasant Street. Members of the General Investigation Unit of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division seized a mobile device that was found on the man at the time of his arrest and also executed a search warrant at the man’s residence where computer equipment was seized. The man was released on the following conditions: remain away from children under the age of 16, except when in the company of their parent, remain away from schools, parks, playgrounds, pools and community centres or any place known to be frequented by children, do not possess or use a computer and do not use any electronic device to access the internet. He will appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court at a later date to face charges of child pornography and voyeurism.
