A man faces drug and prostitution charges after an arrest Wednesday
night in Dartmouth.

At 8:48 p.m., patrol officers, assisted by members assigned to the
HRP/RCMP Integrated Vice and ICE units and the Central Quick Response
Unit, conducted a traffic stop in the 300 block of Portland Street. The
driver was arrested without incident and a subsequent search resulted in
a quantity of Hydromorphone being seized. The arrest came as a result of
an investigation into prostitution within HRM.

Fifty-one-year-old Maurice Gerald Allison of Upper Hammonds Plains is
scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court today. He faces two
counts of living wholly or in-part on the avails of prostitution, two
counts of directing the movements of a person engaged in prostitution,
and one count each of sexual assault with a weapon, uttering threats,
transporting persons to a bawdy-house and  drug trafficking.
