Man Faces Various Charges After Incident in Beaver Bank

Halifax District RCMP have charged a man with various offences following an incident on Beaver Bank Rd. last night..

RCMP were alerted to an altercation between a man and a woman in a vehicle near the 1500 block at approx. 8 p.m. Several people witnessed the incident. The woman got out of the vehicle when it was stopped in traffic, but was forced back into the car by the man. The woman again tried to get out of the car, but the man tried to keep her in the vehicle against her will. Bystanders tried to help the woman get out of the vehicle and when she was halfway out of the car, the man began to move the car and the woman fell to the ground.

RCMP arrived on scene and arrested the man. He was held in custody overnight and is appearing in Dartmouth Provincial Court this afternoon. The woman was treated by EHS at the scene. The subsequent police investigation resulted in the following charges being laid against 28-year-old Christopher Bruce Duffett of Halifax:

Assault x 2)

Assault with a Weapon

Uttering Threats

Administering a Noxious Substance

Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle

Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle
