A man facing child pornography charges was arrested yesterday for breaching a court-imposed order.
On February 13, investigators assigned to the Integrated Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit, conducted the search of a residence in the 6100 block of Allan Street in Halifax. Forty-seven-year-old Robert William Harris was arrested at the scene and was charged with making available child pornography, accessing child pornography and possession of child pornography. He was later released by the courts on a Recognizance and placed under a number of conditions, namely to abstain from communicating with children under the age of 16, not to be at any place where children may be reasonably expected to be present and not to be at any daycare, school ground, playground or community center.
Yesterday afternoon, officers received a report that Robert Harris was observed in close proximity to Burton Ettinger Elementary School last Friday. The investigation revealed that on September 5, at approximately 2:40 p.m., Robert Harris was observed walking his dog on the sidewalk off Alex Street, directly in front of the school. Although there were a number of children playing in the school yard at the time, there’s no evidence to suggest that the accused approached or spoke to any of them.
Robert William Harris was subsequently arrested without incident outside a business on Dutch Village Road. He was held in custody overnight and will appear in Halifax Provincial Court today to face a charge of breach of Recognizance.
