Man flown to Halifax with life threatening injuries after shooting in Yarmouth County

Prior to 1 a.m. this morning, Yarmouth Rural RCMP, assisted by Yarmouth Town RCMP, Western Traffic Services, and Yarmouth Clare Street Crime Enforcement Unit (SCEU), responded to a 911 call of a man having been shot at a residence on the Pembroke Rd. in Pembroke, Yarmouth County.

Upon arrival, officers located a 38-year-old man from Yarmouth County outside of the residence, suffering from a gun-shot wound. He was transported to the Yarmouth Regional hospital, where he was later transported by EHS Lifeflight to the QEII Health Sciences Centre in Halifax with life-threatening injuries.

A 32-year-old man from Digby County was arrested at the scene without incident. He remains in police custody where he is facing charges for Attempted Murder along with other firearm related offences. The victim and the suspect were known to each other. A third man at the residence is not facing any charges.

The investigation is continuing with assistance from the Yarmouth Clare SCEU and the RCMP Forensic Identification Section.
