Man fraudulently collecting money for local church

Police are investigating reports of a man fraudulently attempting to collect money in Halifax today.

Earlier today, police received a number of reports of a man going door-to-door and representing himself as being from the Fairview United Church. He was attempting to solicit money on the church’s behalf. Police are advising that the man is not associated with the church and this is a scam.

The suspect is described as a white man, approximately 5’8” tall, wearing a black winter hat with a yellow logo, a teal puffy winter jacket and jeans.

Police are asking anyone who has information in relation to this scam to contact police at -902-490-5020. Anonymous tips can be sent to Crime Stoppers by calling toll-free 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), submitting a secure web tip at www.crimestoppers.ns.ca or using the P3 Tips App.
