Updated: A 23-year-old Halifax man (originally stated as 19-years-old in error) has been charged with aggravated assault and released. He is scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court on June 27 to face this charge.

Shortly after 9:00pm Central Division officers were called to Gerrish Towers in Halifax in response to an injured male. Upon arrival officers located a 26 year old man who was suffering from an injury to his head sustained after he was assaulted by a man he had recently met. The victim and the suspect were in the same apartment when the suspect assaulted the victim.
After a short investigation responding officers located a 19 year man and arrested him for the assault. The man is currently in police custody awaiting the completion of the investigation. The victim in this matter was treated in hospital and released for non-life injuries.
More information will be released when a determination on charges is made later in the day.
