Man Leads Police On Wild Chase In A School Bus

Halifax Police are on the scene this morning at Gottingen And North Street at the end of a pursuit involving an intoxicated man driving a school bus.

From the release:

 

“Police are currently on scene in the area of Gottingen and North St, in relation to a MVA involving a school bus and a police vehicle.  The vehicle had been stolen from a parking lot on Main St in Dartmouth sometime before 315 am.   A motorist called police to report a school bus was travelling across the Murray MacKay Bridge at 100 km/hr.   Police located the vehicle though it initially failed to stop for police.  The vehicle stopped in the area of North St at Gottingen at which he struck a parked police vehicle.   The driver fled the scene and was arrested after a short foot chase.   The 44 year old male is being held and is facing charges impaired operation of a motor vehicle, 2 counts of hit and run under the Criminal Code, Theft and possession over and fleeing police.   The investigation is continuing at this time and it appears that the driver hit at least two other vehicles which were parked an unoccupied at the time.   There were no injuries as a result of the incident.”
