At 9:00 pm east members responded to Collins Grove and Regal Road to a report of gunshots.
A male was said to have been shot in the back and running towards Regal road. A suspect, only described as a younger male, was said to have run towards an awaiting black SUV, possibly a Ford Escape. The SUV was observed fleeing Collins Grove road towards the Cole Harbor area. The victim of the shooting was located on Regal road suffering from a gunshot wound to his buttock. A duffle bag containing a loaded handgun and a large quantity of what is believed to be crack cocaine was located near the victim. During the course of the investigation the victim was eventually arrested for firearm related offenses and possession for the purpose of trafficking. Victim/accused is a 23 year old Dartmouth male who did not cooperate with investigators. He was treated for his injury which was found to be minor at the QE II hospital and will be held for morning court. There is no further information at this time on the driver or passenger of the suspect vehicle. The General Investigative Unit, k-9 and identification units were utilized. This matter remains under investigation.
Charges include: possession for the purpose of trafficking CDSA 5(2).
Possession of a weapon dangerous 88(1)
Carrying a concealed weapon 90(1)
Unauthorized possession 91(2)
Possession of prohibited/restricted firearm with ammunition 95(1)
Possession of a firearm without a license or registration certificate 92(1)
