East Hants District RCMP is investigating an incident of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
On July 19, at approximately 12:00 p.m., East Hants District RCMP observed a Mitsubishi Lancer travelling at a high rate of speed. The driver of the car passed a marked police vehicle on Hwy. 2 in Enfield and then dangerously sped away resulting in collisions with several vehicles. The vehicle was last seen heading towards Hwy. 102. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, however several vehicles were damaged.
On July 20, at approximately 12:40 p.m., East Hants RCMP received a complaint of a suspicious vehicle at a business on Hwy. 214 in Elmsdale. RCMP officers arrived and observed the same blue Mitsubishi Lancer parked in the lot and safely arrested the driver.
The driver, a 24-year-old man from Shediac, New Brunswick, is facing several charges including Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance, Failure to Stop After an Accident and other Criminal Code charges. The man has been remanded and will be appearing in Truro Provincial Court tomorrow morning.
The investigation is continuing.
