Man stabbed on Halifax Transit bus

Halifax Regional Police has charged a man in relation to an assault that occurred in Halifax yesterday.

At approximately 10:20 p.m. officers responded to an assault that had just occurred on a Halifax Transit bus, which was travelling in the area of the 2500 block of Robie Street. A man approached another man, who was not known to him, and stabbed him with a small, pointed object. The suspect then fled the bus on foot. The victim was treated by EHS for non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers arrested the suspect in the area a short time later without incident.

Adam Atkinson, 37, is scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court today to face one count each of assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon dangerous to the public.
