Halifax Regional Police is investigating a suspicious incident that occurred yesterday in Halifax.

At 1 p.m., a mother and her two young children left Walmart at 220 Chain Lake Drive and walked to the parking lot with a friend. As they reached their parked vehicle, a man approached the mother and offered to help her with her 20 month-old daughter that she was carrying in her arms. She refused the man’s help but he removed the child from the mother’s arms and walked slowly away with the child. The mother’s friend ran to the man and took back the child. The man then entered a parked vehicle and left the area. The incident was later reported to police.

The suspect is described as a white man in his forties, 5’10”, with a medium build and a scruffy beard. He was last seen leaving the area in a red four door sedan.

Police remind citizens to call 9-1-1 immediately if anyone attempts to take their child.
