Man, woman face charges in child abuse investigation, Liverpool, N.S.

Queens District RCMP with the assistance of Southwest Nova Major Crimes Unit have laid multiple charges against a 20-year-old man and 18-year-old woman from Liverpool after an investigation into alleged child abuse.

On October 11th, 2014, Queens District RCMP received a call for assistance concerning two male children. As a result of an investigation, it was determined the boys, who are under the age of one, had sustained serious injuries. The children have received care for their injuries and have been removed from the home.

The woman has been charged with two counts of Criminal Negligence Causing Bodily harm and two counts of Failing to Provide the Necessities of Life. The man has been charged with two counts of Criminal Negligence Causing Bodily harm, two counts of Failing to Provide the Necessities of Life and one count of Aggravated Assault.

The accused were known to each other and to the victims. The names are not being released to prevent identifying the victims in this case.

Both of the accused have been released from custody on conditions pending their next court appearance on December 2nd, 2014 in Liverpool Provincial Court.
