Police have charged a man in relation to a homicide that occurred in Dartmouth earlier this year.

On March 25, at approximately 7:10 a.m., police received a report of a disturbance in an apartment building on Pinecrest Drive. Officers located a man inside the building who was deceased. A 47-year-old man, who was known to the deceased, was arrested, and released later that day without charges.

The Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service conducted an autopsy and ruled the manner of death to be a homicide. The victim was identified as 56-year-old Ronald Edward Howell.

This morning, investigators with the Special Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division arrested 47-year-old Michael Anders McKinney in Dartmouth. McKinney is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth provincial court today to face the charge of manslaughter.

Our thoughts remain with Ronald’s family and friends on the loss of their loved one.
