March break roadway safety

March break usually means fun times, skiing with friends and family, day trips and traveling.

“Nova Scotia highways will be busy during March break” says Cst. Jim Shields of RCMP Nova Scotia Traffic Services ” We want all motorists to do their part to keep our highways safe.”

The RCMP remind motorists of the following road safety tips:

– Plan your trip – check with 511 for road conditions and allow plenty of time to get to your destination.

– Take Care of Your Car – Checking the tread and air pressure in your tires, good brakes, clean windows, headlights, and taillights are all important not only for getting there, but getting there safe.

– Driving is a skill and takes concentration and focus no matter what your age. Keep your eyes on the road and your hands upon the wheel.

– Be (more) courteous – Yielding rather than speeding to cut someone off, or letting a car over that has their blinker on, will help make Nova Scotia highways safer.

The RCMP in Nova Scotia are asking everyone to work together to keep our roadways safe during March break.
