Mass recall of wrinkle cream due to mold

Health Canada release:

Groupe Marcelle Inc. has initiated a recall of their Marcelle 40+ Anti-Wrinkle Cream due to microbial standards non-compliance. The affected products, identified by specific UPC codes and lot numbers, have been found to contain traces of mold that develop over time. The recall includes:

  1. Marcelle 40+ Anti-Wrinkle Cream, 50 mL, UPC: 056599633334, Lot: (L)23F1652
  2. Marcelle 40+ Anti-Wrinkle Cream, 75 mL, UPC: 056599600053, Lot: (L)23C1918
  3. Marcelle 40+ Anti-Wrinkle Cream, 75 mL, UPC: 056599600053, Lot: (L)23C1918S
  4. Marcelle 40+ Anti-Wrinkle Cream, 75 mL, UPC: 056599600053, Lot: (L)23F1918

As of November 23, 2023, there have been five incident reports in Canada, thankfully with no injuries. Consumers are advised to immediately stop using the recalled product and contact Groupe Marcelle Inc. for a refund. The company is reachable at 1-800-665-4531 ext. 1500 during business hours or via email at Customer.Service@groupemarcelle.com, quoting recall number RAP07072 along with the lot number and product name.

This recall is in line with the Cosmetic Regulation and the Food and Drugs Act (FDA) of Canada, which prohibits the sale of cosmetics containing hazardous substances or manufactured under unsanitary conditions. Approximately 10,931 units of the affected products were sold in Canada from July to November 2023. The products were manufactured in Canada.

Health Canada urges consumers to report any health or safety incidents related to this or any other consumer product by filling out the Consumer Product Incident Report Form.
