In Outposts of Celtica, Joel MacLean explores Celtic history from its birthplace in central Europe to surviving outposts in western Europe and into the Americas. The book also discusses the Patagonia region of Argentina and Cape Breton, two places where Celtic culture resists absorption into the generic culture of the modern world.
