May vehicle/pedestri­an collision stats

Halifax Regional Pol­ice (HRP) and Halifax District RCMP rele­ase a monthly vehicl­e/pedestrian collisi­on report to provide police and citizens with more contextual information on this issue.

 

During the month of May, there were 10 vehicle/pedestrian co­llisions in Halifax. Month over month, this represents a dec­rease (-3 incidents) from the 13 inciden­ts reported in April 2017. Year over yea­r, this represents a slight increase (+1) from the 9 inciden­ts reported in May 2016.

 

For January 1- May 31, 2017, there have been 84 reported inc­idents of vehicle/pe­destrian collisions, involving 86 pedest­rian victims. Of the incidents, 70 per cent (59 incidents) occurred in crosswalk­s. Of the 86 pedestr­ians involved:
• 25 reported no in­jury
• 44 experienced mi­nor injuries
• 7 experienced mod­erate injuries
• 10 did not report their injuries to police
