McIntosh Run Trail receives $20,000 from province

In a press release on June 17, the Nova Scotia NDP announced that the McIntosh Run Watershed Association has received $20,000 from the province to develop the McIntosh Run Community Trail. 

“Phase II of the trail building will improve the trail surface all the way out to Roach’s Pond Ball Field, adding another two kilometres to this wheelchair accessible Spryfield trail. 

“The McIntosh Run Watershed Association has worked hard to create a lasting legacy that promotes health and protects the environment,” said area MLA Michelle Raymond. “I am pleased that our government continues to invest in communities across Nova Scotia.” 

She added, “The trail along the watershed is open to bicycles and allows families to get exercise while learning about nature. This is another step in protecting the river, giving the public access to more green space and making life better for families.” 

The funding was announced as part of the province’s Recreation Facility Development Program. The program assists community groups, municipalities and other not-for-profit organizations develop facilities to increase public participation in sport and physical recreation.”
