Meteghan RCMP charges truck driver, Meteghan, N.S.

A truck driver has been charged after his vehicle struck an overpass on Highway 101 on Sunday evening.

On May 24th at approximately 10:25 p.m., Meteghan RCMP responded to a report of a crash between a commercial vehicle and an overpass.

The investigation determined that an eastbound dump truck towing a trailer with an excavator struck the overpass with the boom of the excavator at exit 31. No injuries were reported. The Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal attended the scene and shut down a portion of the roadway pending repairs.

The driver of the truck, a 68-year-old Salmon River man, was charged following the collision. He was charged under the Weights and Dimensions of Vehicle Regulations with Operating or Causing to be Operated Vehicle not Confirming with Special Permit. The charge carries a voluntary penalty option of 176.45$. Vehicle Compliance assisted with the investigation which is continuing.
