Metro Transit’s newest route starts rolling in Porters Lake on November 18

Friday, November 15, 2013 - The Porters Lake Metro X will begin transporting residents of Porters Lake and the surrounding area to and from Dartmouth and downtown Halifax starting on Monday, November 18.

Friday, November 15, 2013 – The Porters Lake Metro X will begin transporting residents of Porters Lake and the surrounding area to and from Dartmouth and downtown Halifax starting on Monday, November 18.

The new service will operate predominantly during peak commuting times and is intended to be a cost effective and environmentally friendly transportation alternative for business day commuters. The route will start at the new Porters Lake Park & Ride Lot (next to the Lake and Shore Recreation Centre) and will stop at both the Bridge Terminal in Dartmouth and Scotia Square Mall in Halifax. A one way trip is expected to take approximately 45 minutes.

To celebrate the launch of the service, Metro Transit staff along with Regional Councillor David Hendsbee (Preston-Chezzetcook-Eastern Shore) will be there to greet commuters and take the first trip on the Porters Lake Metro X at 5:38 a.m. on its first day in service.
