Midday gunfire leaves one man dead in Dartmouth

Police are investigating a shooting that occurred in Dartmouth today, leaving one man dead.

At approximately 12:00 p.m., police responded to a report of gun shots in the area of Highfield Park Drive and True North Crescent. On scene, police found a man in a vehicle with gunshot wounds. Police performed CPR on the victim, but the man was pronounced deceased.

Police are asking the public to avoid the area as the conduct their investigation.

The incident is being treated as a homicide. The Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service will conduct an autopsy and identification details will not be provided until the autopsy has concluded. 

The investigation is in the early stages. More information will be provided as it becomes available
