Middle Sackville man charged with Animal Cruelty

The NS SPCA has charged Middle Sackville Man under the Criminal Code of Canada after conducting an investigation involving abuse to a small dog.

On June 15, 2015, the SPCA cruelty office received a call from a veterinarian that a dog had been found in distress.  SPCA officers attended and after a lengthy investigation, it was determined that there was sufficient evidence to charge the owner with animal cruelty.

Jordan Asseff  (27), of Middle Sackville, NS has   been charged with wounding or injuring a dog that was kept for a lawful purpose, contrary to section 445 (1) (a) of the Criminal Code, Willfully causing unnecessary pain, suffering or injury to a dog contrary to section 445.1 (1) (a) of the criminal code, administering a poisonous or an injurious drug or substance to a dog contrary to section 445.1 (1) (c) of the criminal code and for abandoning a dog in distress, contrary to section 445 (1) (b) of the Criminal Code of Canada.

The injured dog was treated at the Nova Scotia SPCA and since been adopted to a new home. She is expected to make a full recovery.

Asseff is scheduled to attend court on September 25th, 2018 at Dartmouth Provincial Court.
