Finance and Treasury Board Minister Diana Whalen is sending condolences to the family, friends and loved ones of Jim Flaherty, member of Parliament for Whitby-Oshawa and former federal finance minister who passed away today, April 10.
“On behalf of all Nova Scotians, I extend my deepest sympathy to Mr. Flaherty’s wife, sons, colleagues and loved ones,” said Ms. Whalen. “And, I thank Mr. Flaherty for his many contributions to our country over his lifetime, including guiding the federal government’s fiscal policies during a very trying period.”
Mr. Flaherty, first elected in 2006, served as finance minister for many years before stepping down last month.
