Missing camper found deceased, Cheticamp Island, N.S.

The body of a Sydney man reported missing late last evening has been located.

At 11:23 p.m. last evening, Cheticamp RCMP received a call of a missing camper on Cheticamp Island.

Members from Cheticamp and Inverness detachments attended the scene and a land, sea and air search was coordinated.

At 5:45 a.m. today, the 62-year-old man from Sydney was located deceased. With the assistance of the Canadian Coast Guard helicopter, the Cheticamp Ground Search and Rescue and Emergency Health Services, the body was recovered a short time ago. At the request of the family, the name is not being released. The investigation is continuing.
