Monday Shoe Porn – Allene’s collection

L-A: I want to say “Happy Monday”, because it’s shoe porn day and that makes it happy, but Jian has gone and ruined that for me as he feels the need to wish us a happy every day of the frigging week.  Way to ruin that for me, Jian.

At least we have shoe porn. This week we have 22 lovely pairs from Allene.  This is my kind of shoe collection (and not just because she has a pair of Keds like mine) – a nice mix of heels, wedges, and flats. I admire you girls (and guys) who can wear killer heels all the time. I really do. But I’m a wimp and in the end, I just admire and put on flats.

Cheapie Bay Shoes - I LOVE these shoes. They are the most comfortable heels I have ever owned. Imagine my dismay when my puppy chewed them and tore the strap on one!! But, not to be defeated, I found a cute bead store and sewed some sparkly beads onto the affected area and voila - they are now sparkly as well! Nine West - These are probably my oldest Nine West shoes, sorry bout the yucky insole thingy. My mom and I bought them to share cause we have the same size feet but she let me take them when I moved away. :) Nine West - Another coveted pair that I waited patiently to go on sale. Love these! They need a polish though, they're lookin' a little too loved at the moment. Urban Outfitters - I bought a purple dress with yellow polka-dots and I imagined a pair of yellow patent wedges to go with them.. and amazingly, I found them! Crocs - Don't judge me! I bought these in Niagara-On-The-Lake at a little boutique and they are actually really comfy. Well of course they are, cause they're Crocs.. but I think they're kinda cute too? Nine West - these ones ALSO hurt my heels. Damn you Nine West for your irresistible cute flats with consequences! Keds - Owls! Sorel - These are the boots I live in when it's snowy/cold. They're tested to -40 and completely waterproof and just look at those treads! I feel like an SUV in these boots. ... in a good way? Nine West - I used to go to school down the street from the Nine West on Bloor st. in Toronto. One Fall (06?) I would go in there at least once a week and covet these boots but as a poor student I couldn't afford them.. I continued to visit them and observed the price go down, and down... and finally they went on sale enough to be mine. :) RocketDog - The first pair of knee-high boots that actually fit over my calves! I swear boots aren't made for short girls (my feet are size 6 and they expect me to have twig legs to go along with them)! Converse - Yeah clearly I live in these (when it's warm enough). Bernie Mev - I bought these sandals in California with my friend Ivy. I love the way they look from the front, but am not crazy about the way they look from the side. I wear them in the summer cause they're super comfy but am still unsure of them! Weird non? Aldo - My mom bought me these shoes when she visited me at university in Victoria. My first pair of pointy toes - circa 2004 maybe? BCBGirls - Classic concert shoes right here. For sitting-down concerts anyway. Nine West - I love these shoes. They're a tiny bit big for me so I pack in the insoles cause I just gots to wear them! Nine West - Ok I play in the symphony so I have a LOT of black shoes. Gotta keep it interesting, right? Actually I bought these for my Master of Music graduating recital! Ipanema by Gisele Bundchen - Love love love the Ipanema sandal line. They are cheap ($20 for these) and really comfy. I can walk around all day in a pair of these! Plus I think they're cuter than your average flip-flop! Nine West - these ones hurt my heels, but aren't they cute? Cheapie shoes from the Bay. Red! Shiny! Aerosoles - Oh man these were such impulse shoes. I was looking for a pair to go with a particular dress to wear to a wedding, and then I tried these on "for fun" even though they weren't what I was looking for. After that, it was all over! Payless - I got these at a second hand store for like 4 bucks or something. They're really heavy! but cute Mizuno - My amazingly comfortable runners. I've been going to the gym a lot lately so it would be rude not to include them!

The yellow wedges are pretty much awesome.  Also, can we talk about boots and calves?  Allene says she can’t find them to fit her calves because they’re too skinny. Now, I’m the opposite of that with my fat calves.  I know lots of girls who fall into both ends of the spectrum, but know far fewer who have a set of calves that boots just fit perfectly. I recently bought a pair of Aerosoles that have a second zip that allows them to accommodate for both “traditional” and fat “athletic” calves.  While I’m happy I found boots that fit, I’m completely thrown off by the term “traditional calves”. Who are they making these boots for? Explain this to me? Please?
