Ally: What a weekend! Despite binge eating pizza, cake and guacamole and washing that all down with a box of wine, our 1st official FPQT board meeting was a smashing success. Oh, we have plans, y’all. Plans that require “action items”. We’re serious up in here. Sunday was equally as satisfying as we enjoyed a write-up of our first birthday party in the Chronicle Herald. Alas, it is back to important blog business. Today is Monday, and we must bring you porn. We have the good shit today, my friends. Reader Sarah has seriously delivered the goods. Her collection is going to be a two-parter simply because I worry about getting you too excited on a Monday morning. I’m going to come right out and say it: I think Sarah’s collection is my favourite thus far. Gasp! I KNOW! I just played favourites. I’m losing it over her shoes, though. Cannot deal. Here’s Sarah with her intro and description of her shoes…
Sarah: My shoe passion started like most of us, Barbie and all of the outfits and shoes she had, because of all the fantastic places she had to go. My literal translation of this passion began with my first part-time job in high school and I have yet to look back. Despite job loss, full-time course loads and then the paying back of student loans, my shoe collection kept growing. At its height: 160 pairs. But recently to celebrate my 30th birthday, I donated 30 pairs to charity, hopefully, those heels will bring the same smile they brought me, to other women in Halifax. (And next year, it will be 31 pairs and so on and so on).
(Ally: This is awesome)
(L-A: I’m not sure what blows me away more: that she had 160 shoes or that she’s giving her shoes away to charity in order to share the shoe love).
Practical Nine West’s: Town Shoes, built in platform (what I consider the best invention since sliced bread – I say phoeey on Space Travel and 3D movies)
JLo: Internet, bought exclusively for the Sex and the City movie premiere (and never worn since). Need to start shopping for SATC 2! (L-A: you have to come to our SATC 2 party so we can see your shoes!)
Tiffany Blue (don’t know the brand name): bought in Vegas. There is a store in the outlet mall at the “desert” end of the strip and they have all these ball gowns, but set aside is a little corner with shoes. And all the shoes are $10. So when anyone I know visits Vegas, I give them $10 and say size 6!
(L-A: Those are adorable! so much cuteness in a size 6 shoe! I want to have Betty Draper hair and white gloves and wear these shoes.)
Pink Moc Croc: Transit. These work in a pinch. I usually keep them in my office for just in case times.
Black sandals: Transit. Bought before the gladiator trend and having travelled Europe this summer: they pack well and they work with shorts and with dresses.
Wooden Wedges: PEI Bridge Mall store. Just unique I had to have them and they come out every summer. (Ally: LOVE THESE)
Nine West Graffiti: Town Shoes. Low heel, but again, cute and unique. These were my first pair of “name brand” shoes, so even though they are showing signs of ageing, I can’t part with them! (Ally: DO NOT PART WITH THESE. THEY ARE AMAZEBALLS)
Tweed Maddens: Steve Madden store, Vegas. Yes, they are a size too big and thus, I have only ever been able to wear them at home, watching tv. But four words: They. Were. On. Sale. (Ally: Clearly, you needed to buy them. I support this decision)
Booties: Winners. I had just seen a pair of actual Steve Maddens that kind of looked like these, but lets admit, a little pricer than these look-a-likes!
Leopard print: Internet. You need to have at least one pair of animal print and these are made from microfibre, so they feel great!
Pink lace: Internet. Just loved the heel and colour. Not something I wear everyday and lets be honest, with this type of shoe you have to be careful WHAT you wear with them!
Crochet: Internet. Again a unique shoe. How many people have (and I guess, want) crocheted shoes?
Black pumps: Italy. Let’s just admit: if you go to Milan you have to come back with a pair of shoes. I came back with two.
JLo: Town Shoes. These were bought to celebrate my 10 year high school reunion and they were so comfy (built in platform) that they come out of the closet a lot once the nice, open toe weather starts.
Tartan: Internet. Again, if you should have black pumps and animal print, why not a little Highland Fling?
Green: Transit. Green ombre shoes. What I like about these, is a friend bought them without really trying them on and she gave them to me, two days after I had donated shoes. Karma, eh?
Brown patterns: a store in T.O. Again, just different, something I don’t already have, although they haven’t been worn much, as matching them to outfits has been tricky.
Pink: Vegas Store. Another $10 find, that barely made it alive from walking the strip! (Ally: I read that as “Working the Strip” and for a moment, I had a wee head tilt. Not that I would have judged!)
