Moosehead Dry Wins Pitching Duel, Improve to 3-0 at Nationals.

by Steve Betts

On a beautiful night for baseball at Beazly Field, Steve Nelson fired a one hit masterpiece to lead the Dartmouth Moosehead Dry to their third win in the first two days at the Canadian Senior Baseball Championships.

Behind Nelson’s brilliant performance, the Dry defeated Manitoba 4-0 in a yawner of a game that took only two hours to complete.

Earlier on friday, Dartmouth received a three hit performance from Merek Deska to defeat Fort Saskatchewan 3-0.

The Dry’s victory was highlighted by a brilliant over the fence catch by Chris Head that helped to preserve the shutout and electrify the Dartmouth faithful in the stands.

Head also provided the offensive spark for Dartmouth with a hit, a walk, a stolen base, and a run scored.
The Dry have outscored their opponents 11-2 so far at the championships and will look to continue their winning ways in Saturday vs. NL at noon at Beazly Field.
