More Government Data Publicly Available

Nova Scotians are getting access to more vital statistics, maps and education information today, July 5, as new data collections are released through the open data portal.

“Expanding our open data offerings gives Nova Scotians easy access to new data they can use and share,” said Internal Services Minister Patricia Arab. “Anyone can use data to start or grow a business idea, solve a problem or create an opportunity.”

Among the new data collections:
— grants supporting making communities more inclusive and accessible for seniors
— high school graduation statistics by location and gender
— births
— consultation training
— high school Gaelic courses
— municipal and village boundaries
— gaming activity
— community services administrative boundaries
— Order of Nova Scotia recipients
— shooting range locations

Government routinely makes non-sensitive information available for free and in easy-to-work-with formats so anyone can use it to innovate and create new opportunities.

The portal has received more than 400,000 page views and 13,000 downloads since it was launched in February 2016. There are currently 433 data collections.

The website is data.novascotia.ca.
