RCMP are currently on the scene of a motor vehicle collision on Hammonds Plains road.

At 7:45 a.m., Halifax RCMP Traffic Services observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on Lucasville road.

When the officer pulled over to turn around and activate his emergency, the driver of the car accelerated, passed cars and then struck a car coming in the opposite direction. As a result of the driver’s actions, a motor vehicle collision occurred. There were no reports of any serious injury.

A 26-year-old male was arrested at the scene for Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle. He will be appearing in court at a later date.

Lucasville Road is currently down to one lane and motorists should expect delays and consider using alternative routes. The matter remains under investigation.
