Motorcycle collision sends one man to hospital, Eureka, N.S.

Pictou County District RCMP are investigating a serious motorcycle collision that occurred this morning. At approximately 11:14 a.m., RCMP and EHS responded to a report of a motorcycle collision on Highway 374 (Stellarton Trafalgar Road) in Eureka.

At approximately 11:14 a.m., RCMP and EHS responded to a report of a motorcycle collision on Highway 374 (Stellarton Trafalgar Road) in Eureka.

Preliminary investigation determined that a motorcycle was travelling northbound when he collided with a deer on the roadway. The rider and lone occupant, a 68-year-old Pictou County man, was thrown from his motorcycle. The rider was transported to the Aberdeen Hospital with serious injuries and was subsequently airlifted to the QEII Hospital via LifeFlight.

The highway in the area of the collision was closed for approximately two hours while RCMP conducted their investigation which is continuing.
