Blockhouse, Lunenburg County, Nova Scotia
At 5:15 p.m. Monday evening, a member of the RCMP’s South Shore Traffic Services clocked a motorcycle at 156 km/h in a 100 km/h zone, 56 km/h over the speed limit. The vehicle was targeted on Highway 103 near Exit 11. Upon further investigation, the police officer determined the driver had been drinking, and he was taken for a breath test. His breath samples were approximately twice the legal limit.
The driver, a 30-year-old man from Calgary, has been charged with Impaired Driving under the Criminal Code and Stunting under the Provincial Motor Vehicle Act. As a result of the Impaired Driving charge, he is scheduled to appear in Bridgewater Provincial Court on August 9. As a result of the Stunting charge, his vehicle was impounded and his licence was suspended for seven days. The fine for stunting in Nova Scotia is $2,422.50.
Nova Scotia RCMP wants to remind the public that aggressive driving and impaired driving are two of the major causes of serious injury and fatal collisions on our roads.
