Multiple charges laid in assault incident, Beechville, N.S.

A man and woman are facing charges after an incident in Beechville. At approximately 10:30 p.m. on Friday evening, Halifax District RCMP responded to a complaint of an assault with a weapon on States Lane.

A man and woman are facing charges after an incident in Beechville.

At approximately 10:30 p.m. on Friday evening, Halifax District RCMP responded to a complaint of an assault with a weapon on States Lane.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a male and a female were engaged in an argument with a group of females. The male and female used weapons (an axe and crowbar) to assault members of the group and cause damage to property. The accused were arrested on scene.

Two victims received serious but non-life threatening injuries and were transported to the QEII Heath Sciences Centre for treatment. Police believe that this was not a random incident.

Thirty-five-year old Christa Ashford of Beechville is charged with:
 

  • Assault with a Weapon x 4
  • Assault Causing Bodily Harm x 2
  • Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
  • Mischief

Eighteen-year-old Jessie Ashford of Beechville is charged with:
 

  • Assault x 2
  • Assault with a Weapon Causing Bodily Harm
  • Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose

The accused remain in custody. They will be appearing in Dartmouth Provincial Court on May 11th, 2015.

The investigation is continuing with the General Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division.
