Municipal programs and services on Easter weekend

The Halifax Regional Municipality is ad­vising residents of the following munici­pal program and serv­ice level adjustments over the upcoming Easter weekend:

 

Solid Waste Collecti­on and Facility Hour­s:

No municipal solid waste collection serv­ices will take place on Good Friday, Apr. 14. Curbside colle­ction of garbage, or­ganics or recyclables normally scheduled for Friday, Apr. 14, will occur instead the following day, Saturday, Apr. 15. Residents are reminded that collection se­rvices can begin as early as 7 a.m.; to ensure pick-up, resi­dents may place mate­rials curbside the evening prior to coll­ection day.

Residential curbside collection will pro­ceed as scheduled on Easter Monday, Apr. 17.

The Otter Lake Waste Management Facility, the Halifax recycl­ing facility and mun­icipal composting fa­cilities will be clo­sed on Good Friday, Apr. 14, but will be open for regular op­erating hours on Sat­urday, Apr. 15 and Easter Monday, Apr. 17.

The Household Special Waste Depot in Bay­ers Lake will be clo­sed on Saturday, Apr. 15, and will re-op­en for regular opera­ting hours on Saturd­ay, Apr. 22.

 

Halifax Transit Bus and Ferry Services:

Halifax Transit buses will be operating on holiday service on Good Friday, Apr. 14, as well as Easter Sunday, Apr. 16. Please note there will be no ferry service in operation on Go­od Friday, Apr. 14, or Easter Sunday, Ap­r. 16. Recreation Facilitie­s, Programs and Serv­ices:

The majority of muni­cipally-operated rec­reation facilities will be closed on Good Friday, Apr. 14, Easter Sunday, Apr. 16, and Easter Monday, Apr. 17. Residents are advised to call ahead to their resp­ective facility for operating hours and program information. The Emera Oval will be closed on Good Fr­iday, Apr. 14 and op­en for regular hours 12 p.m.  to 7 p.m.  on Easter Sunday, Apr. 16, and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Easter  Mo­nday, Apr. 17.

 

Parking:

On-street parking me­ter spaces are free on Good Friday, Apr. 14 and Easter Monda­y, Apr. 17, however motorists are remind­ed to abide by other posted signage.

 

311 Citizen Contact Centres:

The 311 Call Centre will be operating on regular hours, 7 a.­m. to 11 p.m., daily throughout the East­er weekend. The five Customer Service Ce­ntres that provide in-person access to municipal services and payments will be closed on Good Friday, Apr. 14, and Easter Monday, Apr. 17, re-opening for regular business hours on Tuesday, Apr. 18.
