Municipality proud participant of 3rd annual Doors Open Halifax event, June 6 & 7

Monday, June 1, 2015 (Halifax, NS) – The Halifax Regional Municipality is pleased to once again participate and support Doors Open Halifax, where buildings of architectural, historical and cultural significance open their doors to the public for free, and invite them to view interiors that are not usually accessible.

Approximately 30 venues are participating in this year’s event taking place on Saturday, June 6, and Sunday, June 7, from 10 a.m.

to 4 p.m.

The municipality is rolling out the red carpet at three facilities this year, including:

•             Halifax City Hall, 1841 Argyle Street, Halifax

•             Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency Station #2, 5988 University Avenue, Halifax

•             Halifax Transit Ragged Lake Transit Centre, 80 Grassy Lake Drive, Ragged Lake Park (open 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.)

City Hall and Halifax Fire Station #2 were in the top ten visited venues last year with a combined total of 4100 visitors, and an impressive 800 visits over the two-day event to the Ragged Lake Transit Centre.

Halifax Transit will offer a special shuttle for residents interested in taking a sneak peek behind the scenes at their Ragged Lake operations and maintenance facilities. Shuttle #404 will depart every 30 minutes from Mumford Terminal beginning at 11:05 a.m. The return shuttle will depart opposite the main gates at 80 Grassy Lake Drive, Ragged Lake, beginning at 11:20 a.m. and continue every 30 minutes until the final trip at 3:20 p.m., both Saturday and Sunday.
