Municipality Recruiting for New ArtsHalifax Advisory Committee

Thursday, May 21, 2015 (Halifax, NS) – The Halifax Regional Municipality is looking for citizens to participate on the new ArtsHalifax Advisory Committee.

Regional Council established the new committee at its meeting on May 12, with a mandate to provide advice to staff on the development of policies that support Halifax’s professional arts and culture sector. The terms of reference for the committee are set out in Administrative Order 2014-019.

ArtsHalifax will be comprised of eight members, including:

  • Members of the public at large;
  • Members of the arts and culture sector; and
  • Members with knowledge and experience working with arts and culture organizations, programs or practices.

Applicants should be prepared to work within the framework established by Regional Council and must be willing to participate in a positive manner in forming recommendations for consideration. Applicants should also have a respect and appreciation for diversity and the time and energy required for public service.

Applicants should include their cover letter and/or resume, as well as any additional information that would assist the Community Planning and Economic Development Standing Committee in making their nomination to Regional Council.

The deadline for applications is 4:30 p.m. on Friday, May 29.

All nominations for the ArtsHalifax Advisory Committee will be made in accordance with the municipality’s Public Appointment Policy.
