Music In The Blood

Ravi Persaud interviews musician Mary Stewart. Music has been a huge part of Mary Stewart’s life since very early on. Born into a very musical family, Mary grew up around a staggering record collection which led to an appreciation of music from all generations and genres.

At sixteen, Mary was in the studio with producer/songwriter George Canyon recording her first demo which consisted of four songs she wrote. Actively involved in the local New Glasgow music scene, Mary was both organizer and performer of many shows. She has shared the stage with such performers as Cindy Church, Murray McLaughlin, Bruce Guthro, Jill Barber, In-Flight Safety, and Wintersleep. Following many years of vocal training in her hometown, Mary traveled abroad and studied voice in France for an eight month period. Having returned home to begin work on her latest musical endeavour, Mary Stewart has her roots in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Armed with her own charming brand of pop-driven folk music, as well as her cat, Mary Stewart will keep you captivated and smiling if you happen to catch her act.
