Musquodoboit Harbour Man charged with child pornography offences

A Musquodoboit Harbour man has been charged with child pornography offences.

After learning of child pornography distribution via the internet, the RCMP-HRP Integrated Criminal Investigation Division’s Integrated Child Exploitation Unit searched a residence in Musquodoboit Harbour on September 12. A 43-year-old man from Musquodoboit Harbour was arrested without incident at the home where the search occurred.

Jeremy Kyle Donovan has been charged with Distribution of Child Pornography and Possession of Child Pornography.

Donovan appeared in Dartmouth Provincial Court on September 12 and was released on conditions. He is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court on October 15 at 9:30 a.m.

In Nova Scotia, it is mandatory for citizens to report suspected child pornography. This means that anyone who encounters child pornography material or recordings must report it to the police. Failing to report suspicious activity and materials could result in penalties similar to failure to report child abuse set out in the Child and Family Services Act. The RCMP encourages citizens to be a voice for children who are victims of sexual exploitation by reporting any suspected offences to your local police or by using Canada’s National tipline for reporting online sexual exploitation of children at www.cybertip.ca.
