my interview with iron chef america winner celebrity chef, madison cowan

It’s not everyday I get to interview an Iron Chef America winner, celebrity chef and someone who’s currently gracing the screens with a captivating new show (No Kitchen Required) ! So suffice it to say I was beyond thrilled to have a chat with Chef Madison Cowan to discuss cooking!

Chef Madison is known for cooking from the soul with love and passion and it shines through each and every one of the meals he creates – especially for his family at home. Madison is a dedicated dad to a beautiful 5 year old daughter, so during our interview together I was interested in hearing how he cooks with his little one and what sorts of snacks he’s whipping up in the kitchen for her, and what tips he could offer us mommies!

Check out my video below for some great tips on involving your children in the process of creating a meals along with how to change things up at home and bring some international flavors to the table without leaving your kitchen. Also, how to incorporate lean meats in your meals such as pork chops.

Now, admittedly, I’ve stayed away from cooking pork chops for quite some time since they always seem to end up dry and blah. You too? Well, turns out 8 out of 10  cook their pork chops the same 3 ways or less! Thanks to Chef Madison we’re getting unstuck by getting stuck in with his new, globally inspired recipes at Pork Be Inspired.

The trick to a proper pork chop that’s tender, succulent & juicy (and NOT overcooked!) is to cook your chops to 145F & rest for 3 minutes. Job done!

After my interview, I did get inspired, picked up a huge pork loin and made pork chops on the BBQ that turned out beautifully for dinner over the weekend. I handled the marinade and my husband took care of BBQ’ing them to perfection. I’m looking forward to trying more of Madison’s recipes over the summer!
