Halifax Regional Police are investigating a robbery that occurred this morning in Halifax.
At 2:01 a.m. on September 5th, 2020, officers responded to a report of a robbery at Needs Convenience Store located at 6130 Chebucto Road, Halifax. A lone male suspect entered the Convenience Store and demanded two cartons of cigarettes and produced a knife to the lone male employee. The male employee pushed the panic button and the suspect went behind the counter and took money from the till and cartons of cigarettes from the cabinet drawers. The male employee was not injured. The suspect fled the Convenience Store and ran west bound on Chebucto Road.
The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 20-25 years old, 5’6” – 5’7” in height, slim build. He was wearing an orange toque, black cloth mask, fluorescent green t-shirt (no logo) over a long sleeved white shirt, dark pants and dark sneakers with white soles.
Multiple police units attended the scene and are actively looking for the suspect. A K-9 officer attended the scene with the police service dog and located evidence associated to the robbery at the corner of Chebucto Road and St. Matthias Street. The service dog followed a track of the suspect which was lost on North Street. A Forensic Identification Officer attended and processed the scene. The investigation will be assigned to the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division.
