New Chair Appointed to Workers Compensation Board

The province has appointed Rodney Burgar as the new chair of the Nova Scotia Workers’ Compensation Board.

Mr. Burgar will take over from Chris Power who has been acting in the position since the departure of Elaine Sibson. Mr. Power will remain on the board as deputy chair.
        
“Mr. Burgar is an experienced leader, and I know he will make a tremendous contribution to the Workers’ Compensation Board and everyone it serves,” said Labour and Advanced Education Minister Kelly Regan. “I want to congratulate Mr. Burgar on his appointment, and thank past chair Elaine Sibson and acting chair Chris Power for their hard work.”

Mr. Burgar is an experienced CEO and director with over 30 years in the business and legal sectors. He has served as a director for a number of Crown corporations, including Innovacorp and Waterfront Development, as well as the Nova Scotia Public Service Superannuation Pension Plan. He is certified as an independent director by the Institute of Corporate Directors.

The appointment is for a five-year term with the possibility of reappointment.
