Twenty new Career Firefighters have joined the ranks of the HRFE, and they will be taking post at their stations this week.
At a ceremony held at Alderney Landing, the newly graduated team accepted their new helmets, which for firefighters is a symbol of accomplishment as they advance from trainee to operational, in front of friends, family, and new coworkers.
A special speech was given by the Chief himself. This marked a special send off as this was Chief Trussler’s last graduation to send off. After more than 30 years, the Chief retired from service later that day at both the NS Tattoo and a send off event afterwards.
