The Nova Scotia House of Assembly will create a standing committee on health care.
“Health is a top priority for this government. It’s important to all of us who have the privilege of sitting in the legislature on behalf of Nova Scotians from one end of the province to the other,” said Government House Leader Geoff MacLellan. “The committee’s mandate will be to focus on health care and health- care service delivery.”
The all-party committee will allow members to work together to find solutions to challenges in the health-care system. Specific details around the structure of the new committee will be worked out among the parties in the coming weeks.
Also, the house has agreed to merge the resources and economic development standing committees to better reflect the role natural resources play in creating economic growth across Nova Scotia.
