Spryfield is getting a new men’s major junior C hockey team. The team, which will be called the Spryfield Silver and Black Attack, was approved last week by the Nova Scotia league, which already has eight other teams. The team will play out of the Lions Rink. Registration and tryouts will begin in August.
The coach will be Paul Strople, who lives in Spryfield. Paul has coached the Chinese Olympic women’s hockey team. Councillor Steve Adams has been organizing the push to get a team for Spryfield. “This is a new thing for us and I can’t tell you how excited I am,” he says. Adams says there aren’t enough activities in this area for students who have just graduated from high school.
