Everyone is invited to join the lieutenant governor of Nova Scotia at Government House during a wide-ranging series of presentations that illustrate the history and talents of Nova Scotians.
Featured topics are the conservation of historic military king’s and regimental colours, an Acadian choral performance, Reeny Smith as part of the Halifax Pop Explosion, Nova Scotian tales of the supernatural, the Halifax Explosion, and a symphonic concert commemorating the Halifax Explosion.
“Mrs. LeBlanc and I are delighted to host our first Evenings at Government House series this fall,” said Lt.-Gov. Arthur J. LeBlanc. “Nova Scotia has an amazing depth of history and talent and we look forward to the public joining us for these presentations at Government House, the ceremonial home of all Nova Scotians.”
With the exception of the concert on Nov. 21, all events will be held at Government House, 1451 Barrington St., Halifax. The events are free and people can register online at lt.gov.ns.ca or by calling 902-424-7001.

Scheduled events are:
— an illustrated talk by art conservator Ann Shaftel on the stabilization of the King’s and Regimental Colours of the 25th and 85th Battalions, Canadian Expeditionary Force, that are on display at Government House, Tuesday, Sept. 19, 7-8:30 p.m.
— a concert by Les Voix d’Acadie, a francophone choir from the Halifax Regional Municipality, Tuesday, Oct. 3, 7-8:30 p.m.
— a musical performance by Reeny Smith in association with the Halifax Pop Explosion, Tuesday, Oct. 17, 7-8:30 p.m.
— a presentation by renowned folklorist and folksinger Clary Croft on Halloween Hauntings – Supernatural Folklore in Nova Scotia, Tuesday, Oct. 31, 7-8:30 p.m.
— a presentation by Roger Marsters, curator of marine history with the Nova Scotia Museum, on the cultural landscapes of Halifax Harbour at the time of the 1917 Halifax Explosion, Tuesday, Nov. 14, 7-8:30 p.m.
— a performance by the Dalhousie Symphony Orchestra to commemorate the Halifax Explosion, at Paul O’Regan Hall, Halifax Central Library, 5440 Spring Garden Rd., Tuesday, Nov. 21, 7-8:30 p.m.
