Next week kicks off International Walk to School Month

Students, parents, staff and Members of the Legislature will walk or wheel to school next week for physical activity, safety, the environment and for fun.

Next week kicks off International Walk to School Month.

The event is for schools with walking or bussed students; bussed students participate in walk at school events.

About 115 schools across Nova Scotia will participate this year, including Basinview Drive Community School and Bedford South School.

Go to www.saferoutesns.ca (click IWALK) for a list of participating schools in every school board.

MLAs were all invited to participate in Walk to School Month. Bedford-Birch Cove MLA Kelly Regan will walk with students between October 5 to 9.

International Walk to School Month is an initiative of Active & Safe Routes to School, coordinated in Nova Scotia by the Ecology Action Centre in partnership with the Nova Scotia Department of Health Promotion and Protection as part of the Active Kids Healthy Kids Initiative.
