The people have spoken: Caribbean Twist’s future looks brighter

After public outcry and lots of media coverage this week, it appears the North End's Caribbean Twist Restaurant is making progress with city planners.

In an email to haligonia.ca this morning, restaurant owner Lyndon Hibbert thanked local media for their coverage of his story, and says the city is on board with finding a solution to the issue.

"Not only did you dramatically increase my business with your coverage of my story but you assisted in getting the city to say that they are committed to working with me in a process that would amend the zoning for the property that Caribbean Twist operates out of so that I can function as a cafe/restaurant.  I am meeting with a supervisor from HRM Community Development Planning Services to start the process and find out what is needed.  Jerry Blumenthal and Mayor Peter Kelly were instrumental in the decision as I'm sure also was Dawn Sloane.  This change of position by Planning and Development happened for two reasons.  Number 1: prayer and number 2: public support and pressure.  We started our petition to keep the restaurant open Friday night and to date have 399 signatures."

Lyndon goes on to mention that the restaurant will be offering 15% off all meal orders from Tuesday to Saturday of next week.

In case you missed it, here's our original interview with Lyndon on Tuesday of this week.
