NOTD: Models Own Purple Blue

Back in November last year, Models Own Beetle Juice collection created such big stir in the community. And today they launch 3 new shades for this collection, all with duochrome finish. I thought it is about time I show you one of the shades from the first launch 🙂
This is Models Own Purple Blue, in natural lighting, at the best angle to show its duochrome effect. I know quite a few bloggers were not happy of how the nail polish actually looks compared to the promo pics, but I think I like them enough.
Like most duochromes, Purple Blue looks different in different lighting sources, what around it to reflect light and shadow.

This is it, under flash, does not look the same as in the first pic huh? The duochrome effect is definitely there though. The sheen is beautiful, a subtle blue, nice change from the popular green flash that many duochromes have.
The base, to my eyes, is a reddish purple, which sometimes gives me a lobster hand look. I would prefer it more purple, less red.
The bottle is in the same shape as Joe Fresh but contains more than twice as much (14ml vs. 6ml). The bottle is taller, hence the brush inside is longer (a bit wider too). This makes application easier and less awkward. Also bonus point for tight plastic wrap on each bottle, no contamination/ colour testing concern.

This is 3 coats, you can get away with 2 for a sheerer look. The nail polish goes on really smooth and easy, good stuff!
Models Own retails for £5 a bottle but are always offer Buy 3 save £3, Buy 5 save £7 or a set of 5 shades plus the base/ top coat for £20.
International shipping is something to consider though. I paid £10 for my order of £38 in November, but currently it’s £13 for orders up to £24.99, or £20 and higher for bigger orders (cheaper for Ireland and Europe).
Harlow & Co., a Canadian site, sells Models Own for $10 each and will have the 3 new shades in April, if you want to make a purchase. Shipping is flat rate of $8.50 for Canada and the US, $12 for everywhere else, or free with orders over $50 (everywhere).
I wish great nail polish like this is more affordable and easier to get a hold of.
